Opanka to release new single with Gospel artiste Gifty Osei

Tema based rap addict Dadie Opanka will on
February 6 2015 release his first single off his
debut album Akwaaba.
The single, Abubro Nkosua features popular female
Gospel songstress Gifty Osei and sees the rap
addict transmogrify into a poet/spoken word artiste
who directs all his focus in magnifying his creator
(God) for saving him as he had an encounter with
death early this year.
Speaking on the urge to drop a Gospel song, the
artiste disclosed saying;
“Death is real, I already knew it but the reality of
death hit me with a big blow after this encounter
and I know God is real and you need to surrender to
Him no matter who you are, and in everything God
first.

As God has given me another chance to live, I feel
like if I don’t tell people how wonderful He is, then
I’m not being grateful” – he said.
According to Dadie Opanka, the song is not the
usual hiplife gospel but a fusion of spoken word and
choruses that will get both conservative Gospel
music lovers and rap addicts listening.

Stop tallking out of ignorance, seek education - Kwaw Kese warned

One of Ghana’s music producers, Enoch Agyepong
has described thoughts expressed by Kwaw Kese
that, Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO)
should be dissolved as “loose” and “out of
ignorance”.
Rapper Kwaw Kese in an interview with Peace FM
said that, GHAMRO must be dissolved since it is not
doing what it was set up to do.
According to him since GHAMRO as an organization
was tasked to collect royalties on behalf of the
country’s musicians, he has not received any
royalties.
In an interview with GhanaGist.Com, Enock
Agyepong, a music producer, said his assertions
which he is putting out is without facts and ask that
Kwaw Kese better seek education on what
GHAMRO is, its activities and what it does in
royalty payments.
He said Kwaw Kese’s talk is completely out of
ignorance as he has no grips as to what the CMO is
and what GHAMRO is which is entirely up to him as
a music Right Owner and not as a musician.
Enock further said if Kwaw’s reason is that because
he was at GHAMRO’s office sometime back and
had a hard hassle with the previous board, it does
not warrant his talk that GHAMRO is not worth what
it was set up to do. He further said that it was in the
same vein that some right owners took the matter
to court for redress.
Enoch continued that “if Kwaw Kese doesn’t
understand the issues, it is better to be updated
with the fact instead of making statements that
show his ignorance of the business of music which
he want to make money from because that is his
future.”
“Today Kwaw is strong, making hits and for that
matter money but what happens thereafter, which
is what he has to think and care about.”
Providing tutorial on the work of GHAMRO, Mr.
Agyepong explained that there is always a
difference between the musician and the right
owner and therefore Kwaw Kese is opportune as a
right owner to make a difference by involving
himself in GHAMRO activities which is the
organization that collects his money for him.

Kwaw Kesse future is the future of GHAMRO
considering that those persons who did not help him
are no more and things are being corrected”
On the issue of payment to right owners, Enock said
“GHAMRO is supposed to pay right owners whose
music are used royalties during their lifetime and 70
years after their death. This is an asset to both his
family and dependents after one's death, although
he accepts the situation seems difficult presently. It
is for this reason why some of us are sacrificing
our time for free to make sure the right things are
done so that all rights owner will benefit including
Kwaw Kese.”
He advised Kwaw to take part of his time off to learn
the rudiments of what the industry is about so that
his recording, performances and use will be of
benefit to him but not to throw away the water with
the baby.

Sell ECG - Hammer suggests

Music producer and the brain behind The Last 2
Music Group, Hammer has proposed that the
Electricity Company of Ghana should be sold to a
private company to operate.
The legendary beatmaker on his Facebook wall on
Friday afternoon wrote that private companies are
operated well than those owned by the state.
Edward Nana Poku Osei said Ghana Telecom
before its acquisition was performing badly but it
became better when it was sold to Vodafone. He
agreed that Ghanaians complain about selling public
companies but agreed that this will be best for ECG.
Hammer explained:
"Wait a min.. Let’s analyse this.
"We’re all aware our problem as a nation is bad
management and maintenance of large
corporations with state interests.
"National theatre, conference centre, gbc etc are all
deteriorating due to mismanagement and bad
maintenance yet when u mention sale of such
broken entities, there’s always an uproar as to why
it’s being sold and bla bla bla…
"I’ll tell u why, it’s cos we can’t handle them
SIMPLE.

"ECG is not any different if u ask me. Cos the best
thing tht ever happened to ghana telecom was the
Vodafone acquisition. We have seen this happen
too many times to worry about the state losing
control of such institutions cos frankly the human
resource mindset is to blame not the system of
operations in these institutions.
"ECG MUST BE SOLD whether we like it or not.
"It’s better for the nation to enjoy reliable and
efficient power supply than take pride in
government control of a broken down company.
How many government interest companies are in
ghanas club 100. I bet there’s none.
"Politician Shld stop bickering about which party
sold it and who got the kickbacks and all tht fuss
and focus on the benefits to the nation if it’s sold
and we have stable power. ?#?SELLECG?"

Ghanaians are not paying attention to Fuse ODG - Sarkodie

Rapper Sarkodie, real name Michael Owusu Addo
has disclosed that Ghanaians are not paying much
attention to “Azonto” hitmaker, Fuse ODG.
The BET award-winner in an interview on one of the
episodes of “The Delay Show” published on
YouTube on January 29, 2015 said the “Antenna”
singer known in real life as Nana Richard Abiona is
doing something great to help Ghana internationally.
He continued that most Ghanaians are not
recognising his works and that is not giving them
the chance to fully support him.
He stated that some Ghanaian musicians have tried
their best to support Fuse ODG but he needs more
than that.
"I think Ghanaians are not paying attention on what
Fuse is doing. To me that is what I think.

We have tried our best, as in me, R2bees and the
rest. Fuse is one of the best who have been putting
Ghana on the map internationally. People are really
sleeping on him so it is time Ghanaians recognise
him and celebrate him in a way".
Sarkodie answered in the affirmative when the host
of the show, Delay questioned him if he is dating
but quickly added that the lucky lady is not in the
entertainment industry.
The two-time artiste of the year award-winner
added that he cannot go into a relationship with a
lady in the entertainment industry because of how
he loves his woman.
“I must say that I have done nothing with anyone in
the entertainment industry before.”

Cartel Big J (Praye Tietia) dedicates 'Mafiwo' video to angry McBrown

Cartel Big J, formerly known as Praye Tietia, has
released the video for his latest single, Mafiwo,
which he dedicates to Nana Ama McBrown.
The video dedication is a follow-up of an open
apology he rendered the actress who expressed
anger at Cartel Big J during a television interview,
for carelessness after her near-fatal accident
which occurred immediately after she helped
produce a music video for his defunct Hiplife group.
After the open apology which came as a letter and
published in the media, Nana Ama McBrown
maintains Cartel Big J is being insincere and the
letter is just a ploy to garner public sympathy.
Cartel Big J has now dedicated the entire video of
'Mafiwo' featuring Akwaboah, which is his first
single after the collapse of the group Praye, to Nana
Ama to seek for her forgiveness.

The King Luu directed video which has a captivating
storyline starring Nikki Samonas, Timothy Bentum,
Ekow Smith-Asante among other actors, has: "To
Err is Human, Forgive and Forget...Dedicated to
Nana Ama McBrown" written at its tail-end.
Meanwhile, Nana Ama McBrown has stated clearly
that she has forgiven him but she gets angry. She
said on Accra-based radio, Starr Fm: “I feel like
this thing is between me and him so he shouldn't
involve Ghanaians to make me feel like I'm
dragging issues.”

Wife Of Nollywood Actor Leaves Him Because He Has Kidney Problem

A former Vice President of the Actors Guild of
Nigeria and seasoned actor, Prince James Uche, is
still struggling to survive a strange illness that has
kept him off the screen for eight years ago.
To make matters worse, Uche’s landlord has just
served him a notice, ordering him to quit his
residence at 45, Yetunde Brown Street, Gbagada,
Lagos.
The ailing actor, who now spends most of his time
in the premises of a Catholic church near his
residence, in an interview with our correspondent
on Thursday, recounted how he found himself in his
present condition.
He said, “All I can remember is that something
struck me on the left side of my face about eight
years ago, when I was heading for the burial
ceremony of Pete Edochie’s mother at Nteje in
Anambra State. I had no idea what hit me in the
face, but it happened when I arrived at the junction
leading to the town.
“I got to the venue of the ceremony and stayed in
the town for two days. On the third day, I suddenly
found that I could no longer move my body freely.
Although I barely managed to get up on my feet, I
could not climb up the staircase.
“I had to wait till the following Sunday before
deciding to leave for Lagos. But my friend, Edoche,
persuaded me to follow him to Enugu where he lived
at the time. I slept in Enugu on that day. In the
morning I went for treatment in a hospital.
“After the doctor had finished examining me, he
stared at me with his mouth half open in shock for a
long time. When I asked what was wrong, he said I
should have been dead. He took my pulse again and
then, sweating, said my blood pressure was
abnormally high. He said it had risen up to 300 and
it was a miracle that I was still alive.”
The doctor also told the actor that, judging by his
blood pressure, he should have been dead or
paralysed. That was how Uche initially discovered
that he had a heart problem.
Although the doctor in the Enugu hospital prescribed
a certain drug for his illness and instructed to take it
for the rest of his life, Uche had thought it was
nothing to worry about and he hoped to recover
quickly.
Unfortunately, eight years after, the actor, whose
career has been seriously affected by the ailment,
is still battling for his life. Apart from spending all
his life savings on hospital bills and drugs, the
illness has cost him his marriage. It was gathered
that at a point, Uche’s wife was forced to leave their
matrimonial home because she could no longer
cope with the burden of taking care of him and their
three children.
Uche’s case has progressively declined over the
past years. Apart from suffering an undefined heart
disease, he is gradually losing his memory and
sight (he could barely glimpse our correspondent).
Also, to compound the actor’s problem, his kidneys
no longer function properly. With financial
assistance from members of his church – Our Lady
the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gbagada,
Lagos – he was able to undergo five dialyses in
2013. Yet, it is feared that the kidneys may pack up
due to inadequate medical attention.
Apart from looking quite emaciated, Uche’s speech
is slurred and most of the time, incoherent. Some
members of the Society of St. Vincent of Paul in his
church were moved by his plight to care for him
three years after his wife left with their three sons.
A female member of the Society said that other
relatives of the ailing actor had virtually abandoned
him to his fate.
She said, “James Uche’s family has not helped his
situation at all. Maybe, if they had been around him,
his health would not have deteriorated this bad.
When his wife took the children and left, he was all
alone in their residence. Nobody visited him. None
of his relations, colleagues or friends visited him or
volunteered to give him his drugs until members of
the Society of St. Vincent the Paul decided to care
for him.”
Describing his present condition, she confirmed that
the actor’s blood pressure had been consistently
high, noting that at a point, some kind-hearted
people picked him up and took him to the General
Hospital, Gbagada where he was admitted in the
intensive unit for some time and made to undergo a
number of medical tests.
The lady continued, “The bottom line is that other
things came up. His kidney was seriously affected
and he had to undergo five dialyses in March, 2014.
From what we have seen, he is also afflicted with
diabetes. This is why he has been placed under a
strict diet. He doesn’t just eat anything. His eyes
are so impaired now that he could barely see
objects. We have even taken him to St. Mary’s
Hospital in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State. As it is,
everything is related to high blood pressure. The
ailment has seriously affected the organs in his
body, especially the kidneys.”
It was also learnt that members of the Society made
an effort to contact the Abia State Government,
through the representative of the Item Constituency
in the House of Assembly, for assistance to the
actor. But they said the person did not get back to
them.
Sometime last year, word reached the Actors Guild
of Nigeria that Uche was still seriously ill. A
delegation was sent to visit him in his home. He
was subsequently taken another hospital in the
Gbagada area of Lagos for treatment and placed on
health insurance, which gave him access to free
drugs. Ever since, the AGN has done anything else
to assist him.CKN
