KOD leaves Radio Gold this week after 18 years

Radio Gold‘s Kofi Okyere Darko is leaving the
station, enewsgh.com has this on good authority.
18 years after joining what for years became one of
urban radio's most listened-to stations, KOD as he
is popularly known, is exiting this week.
He effectively takes a bow from Home Touch, the
show he’s been hosting for some time now, on
Friday February 27, we can say.
Colleagues at the station have since been informed
of his departure – an announcement that has
saddened quite a number.
enewsgh.com sources at the station say even
though his exit was predicted (as far back as last
year), the general consensus is that he’s paid his
dues. The station’s handlers have given him their
blessings, we understand.

One of the early disciples of mainstream urban
radio, he for years became a must-listened-to
voice at the station.
After dropping his initial dream of becoming an air
force person, he charted a career path in
broadcasting. He joined the Larterbiokorshie-based
station in 1997, at a time when commercial radio
had barely peaked. KOD learnt the ropes of radio
from his cousins Kwesi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) and
Yaw Addo Darkwa.
Over the last eighteen years that he was with Gold,
he hosted almost every programme from the
morning show to the evening drive.
Born at Winneba in 1977, he hails from Ashanti
Mampong, and Akrokyere. He is also a Fashion
Designer, Television Presenter, an Events Host and
Artiste Manager.
