Renowned Gospel Songstress, Obaapa Christy,
formerly known as Christian Love stunned listeners
of Atinka FM last Tuesday when she did a rendition
of Daddy Lumba’s chart-topping song, 'Yentie
Obiaa' live on air.
She sang the song perfectly leaving many listeners
wondering whether she was not courting
controversy for herself as a respected Gospel
Musician.
However, she explained to the host of Atinka Fm’s
mid-morning show, “Edwuma oo”, Roman Fada that
there was nothing wrong with a gospel musician
singing secular music.
According to her, secular music is not evil and that
lyrical content is what matters. “Many of these so-
called secular musicians offer inspiration and
direction to people; some even offer fruitful advice
to the depressed in society,” Obaapa Christy noted.

The Gospel singer said she admires secular
artistes like Samini, Kwaw Kese, Kwabena
Kwabena, Daddy Lumba, Sarkodie amongst others
simply because of dedication and commitment to
their work.
“I sometimes take inspiration from them; I enjoy
Samini’s music as well as his energetic stage
performances,” the 'No fears' hit singer told her
host.
